LACORS / AFS Portal

LACORS (Local Authorities Coordinators of Regulatory Services) is the local government central body responsible for overseeing local authority regulatory and related services.

Regulatory Services is the name given to a group of services which exist to ensure public, consumer, environmental and worker protection. These now include checking hygiene standards on farms as they are now classified as part of the food preparation chain. Many of the regulatory services that LACORS support are delivered though individual council's environmental health and trading standards services.

To reduce the cost of implementing these regulations and also to reduce the number of inspections and the regulatory burden on assured farms, Assured Food Standards agreed a reduced risk status for all of their assured farms. To keep individual local authorities informed of the certification status of all of the farms in their regions AFS and LACORS commissioned everysite to use CASI to deliver tailored access to the farm assurance information. Authorised local trading standards employees can register on the LACORS/AFS portal and based on the postcode of the farm they can access information in their authority.

Once registered trading standards staff can search for farms, check their status and also receive monthly updates outlining any change of status. This ensures inspections on farms that are already being independently inspected are varified, whilst ensuring that farms are not overlooked.
